Nijubashi, 二重橋
After that was Imperial Palace East Gardens. The East Gardens are the former site of Edo Castle's innermost circles of defense. None of the main building remain today but the moats, walls and entrance gates still exist. Of course, the entrance fee is FOC .
This is a building for storage and defense of the old Ote-mon gate which was damaged in World War II, April,1945. The date carved on the head suggests that the fish was made after the gate was destroyed in the conflagration of 1657.
This was the biggest guardhouse st up infront of the Ote-san-no-mon gate leading to Honmaru (inner citadel) and Ninomaru (second citadel) for insection of visitors who entered from Ote-mon gate (main entrance) in the Edo Period.
- Its function like "tea house".
- It was constructed long and slender so that the enemies who invaded from the Takebashimon Gate could be repulsed on Obikuruwa enclosure. The criminals and dead were pulled out from this gate. That is why this gate was called Fujyomon Gate, which means impurity.
After that, we had a short time in Oazo, a high class shopping centre.
Everyone was so satisfy with this food. Let's move on. We went to Ueno Park. It is a large public park and it is famous for its many museums. Firs place we visited in Ueno Park was Toshogu Shrine, 東照宮. We did not enter this place because need to pay entrance fee. HAhaha. We just took photos infront of it.
